Integrity Excellence Commitment Respect Home > PhilanthropyPhilanthropy Our philanthropic initiatives in Australia and internationally reflect a genuine commitment to act as a responsible and engaged business within all the communities in which we operate. With a focus on the less advantaged in our community, our aim is to make a positive social contribution through the strategic allocation of funds, employee pro bono work and volunteering, and the use of our facilities. In our Australian practices, we donate 2% of all annual revenue to charitable organisations, including Diabetes NSW & ACT, the Children’s Hospital – Randwick, Lymphoma Australia and Legacy Australia. We have a dedicated position of Director of Philanthropy within our firm, whose role is to drive awareness and coordinate employee engagement across our social responsibility and community efforts, and to consult to our client base on our range of strategies and activities. A Culture of Responsibility and Commitment Our social responsibility and philanthropic activities include financial contributions to disadvantaged communities and charitable organisations, and support for education, healthcare, research, science, environmental protection and cultural projects. Across our firm network, we have participated in a diverse range of efforts and causes, including: Funding medical research Establishing classrooms for disadvantaged children and the provision of school supplies Distributing sporting goods to children in Africa Training community volunteers to provide basic healthcare for those in need Delivering hospital services for children Providing winter clothing in developing countries Sponsoring community events Aiding families in poverty to have access to medical resources Mentoring communities to secure employment. Charities and Organisations We Support Pro Bono Work As a firm, we actively encourage our staff to be involved in pro bono work and social causes. We have consistently contributed time and expertise to causes of social importance. In 2018, we aim to implement the key target within the ‘National Pro Bono Aspirational Target’ of every lawyer within our firm allocating 35 hours per year to pro bono work.
