Stephen is a highly experienced legal practitioner in insurance law and employment law. Stephen’s expertise has been recognised in 2016 and 2017 by Doyles Guide as a leading defendant lawyer in NSW in insurance law.
Stephen regularly advises insurers and self-insureds on various facets of claims management and early intervention to minimise quantum and reduce premiums which are affected by claims. He regularly provides training on better workplace practices to companies to minimise injuries at work. His experience extends to threshold disputes, dual insurance claims and recoveries across all Australian jurisdictions.
In regards to personal injury claims, Stephen has advised and acted in numerous claims encompassing liability, motor accidents and workers compensation nationwide. Acting for uninsured entities in defending difficult and unique claims is one of his specialties.
Stephen has broad experience in employment representing numerous companies in unfair dismissals, unlawful terminations, discrimination actions and complex employment law issues both through direct representation and under employment practices liability.
He has advised NSW Government transport agencies on a range of employment matters including drafting industrial instruments, negotiating leave entitlements and appeared before the Industrial Relations Commission in disputes relating to industrial matters.
Stephen has substantial public sector experience (including Comcare claims) and has conducted litigated claims for NSW Government agencies on behalf of the Treasury Managed Fund.
Stephen has been accredited by the Law Society of NSW as a specialist in personal injury law since 2013.
He is well recognised for his presentation and advocacy skills and is regularly requested to provide seminars in employment and insurance together with defending claims without the use of counsel.
