Rob Critchlow is a decorated professional with an Australian Police Medal and numerous commendations for his exemplary service in emergency response and investigations. He holds two master’s degrees, a Bachelor’s Degree in Investigations, and is currently pursuing a graduate program in Financial Crime and Compliance. Rob serves as an Organised Crime Commander with national coordination and policy leadership roles in New South Wales, Australia’s largest state, which faces significant organised crime risks and is home to the country’s largest casinos.
With a career spanning 34 years, Rob has excelled in high-risk investigations, strategic legislative and policy reforms, and fostering interagency partnerships at local, provincial, national, and international levels. His recent work includes partnerships with governance and oversight agencies across various industries, including casinos, racing, construction, insurance, freight, sport, and anti-money laundering, showcasing his extensive professional relationships and relevance to contemporary projects.
Rob’s leadership in risk management is evidenced by his transformation of underperforming business units into high-output, strategically driven teams. He has addressed insider threats, managed misconduct investigations alongside oversight agencies, and empowered strong performers within his teams. His dedication to vulnerable community members, particularly older citizens, ethnic groups, and women and children, has earned him several awards, including the “Key to the City” from multiple Councils.
In times of environmental disasters such as storms, fires, floods, and pandemics, Rob has led multi-departmental teams to deliver effective community responses. During the COVID-19 pandemic, his leadership earned him a Commissioner’s commendation. He has also spearheaded specialist teams targeting clandestine drug laboratories, provided security for high-profile international figures and events, and engaged in counter-terrorism exercises with the Australian Army, authoring NSW Standing Operating Procedures for terrorism response.
Rob has contributed to the professional development of senior public safety professionals worldwide through mentoring and lecturing at esteemed institutions such as Macquarie University, Charles Sturt University, The Canadian Police College, The Australian Institute of Police Management, and The Australian Federal Police College.
